WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER is one of the most frequently repeated mantras at the Associação de Moradores do PER 11, whose work reflects just that: a sense of unity among the many people and generations of rehoused residents who live in this neighbourhood – a place where after-school tutoring, gymnastics for over-65s, sewing, sports, and even bicycle repair all coexist.
Visual artist Manel Alma led a workshop focused on painting the container where dozens of community-repaired bicycles are stored. Participants also had the opportunity to create an individual tile piece, giving form to their own unique artistic expression.
